DR HANNAH PRINCE-LLEWELLYN

Practitioner Psychologist – Sport and Exercise Psychologist
Regulatory body: Health & Care Professions Council
(PYL043451) & British Psychological Society
Location: Bearsden

Hannah has a Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology and has worked across a range of sports such as elite hockey, semi-professional rugby, mountain biking, rock climbing, triathlon and running. Hannah has also worked supporting adult mental health and well-being in both business and charity settings. Her research and applied work during her training focused on

outdoor therapy, and walk and talk therapy, which she now offers as a service, either in person or over the phone.

Given her interest in supporting individuals to adopt a healthy relationship with exercise, in 2021, she co-founded The Applied Psychologists in Physical Activity network (APPAN) where professionals connect, to further the field of applied exercise psychology.

Hannah is a curious, collaborative and compassionate practitioner. How does this translate into working with her?

- Curious: trained in a number of therapeutic models including Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy, Hannah recognises that there’s no ‘one right way’ of supporting people. Instead, she works with an open mind, to explore what’s best for her clients, depending on their needs and goals, whilst ensuring the work that she

does is evidence-based.

- Collaborative: Hannah works alongside her clients, so that they’re both active

partners in the process of supporting client change. She frequently asks for input from clients, not just about progress but about the process of working together.

- Compassionate: Hannah offers a supportive and non-judgmental space, where her clients can express themselves freely, feeling validated, supported and empowered to support change and growth.

Some common reasons clients see Hannah include:

*Dealing with injury: taking control of recovery & coming back psychologically stronger

*Overcoming performance anxiety

*Navigating stress and life transitions

*Feeling anxious, or experiencing low mood

*Struggling with productivity problems like procrastination

*Feelings of not being good enough (linked to things like perfectionism and imposter phenomenon)
